Customizing the Keyboard
AutoCAD functions can be assigned to keys on the keyboard using the Customize window or by manually modifying a menu file. Many shortcut keys are already assigned to AutoCAD functions. This tip sheet outlines how you can quickly create keyboard shortcuts.

Practical Experience

The lead trainer for CCAD inc., Cindy Dunn, has been teaching AutoCAD to engineering professionals since 1986. Cindy learned AutoCAD while working as an industrial designer. Excited by the new technology, she started CCAD inc. in 1986 to help companies make the transition from a paper to electronic drawing world. CCAD's Drafting and Design Services group provide a real-world setting for our trainers to explore new AutoCAD features and techniques, implementing the most effective ideas.

Level 1 - Introduction to AutoCAD Training Workshop

This five-day AutoCAD Training Workshop is designed to familiarize students with basic AutoCAD commands and computer-aided-drafting concepts. Emphasis is placed on efficient and accurate drawing techniques.

No AutoCAD experience is necessary, but participants should be comfortable opening, saving and closing files; moving, copying and deleting files; locating files in different folders and reading blueprints.

Exercises for the workshop are drawn from a variety of disciplines, including part design, facility layout, architectural drafting and schematics. Participants for each workshop are surveyed to determine their areas of interest and when possible, exercises are tailored to match the needs of the workshop attendees.

Level 1 - Fast Track to AutoCAD Training Workshop

This is an accelerated Level 1 AutoCAD workshop designed for students with prior CAD experience. If you are upgrading from AutoCAD r14 or 2000/2000i this workshop is an excellent choice. Participants must have 240 hours of experience with CAD within the past two years to register for this workshop.

Are you a casual AutoCAD user looking for a more in depth look at the latest releases of AutoCAD? May be your AutoCAD skills are rusty or outdated. Perhaps you have been working with a different CAD software and have to learn AutoCAD. No matter what your situation is, you need to get up to speed on AutoCAD now!

The Fast Track to AutoCAD Training Workshop provides participants with a good working base of AutoCAD skills in a short period of time. This is a very fast-paced workshop. Participants should be very comfortable learning new software and have better than average computer skills. Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is a must!

Level 2 - Intermediate AutoCAD Training Workshop

This five-day Level 2 - Intermediate AutoCAD Workshop is designed familiarize participants with time-saving methods, customization options and formatting techniques. You should be familiar with the current or previous version of AutoCAD, as well as the topics listed in our Level 1 - Introduction to AutoCAD Workshop.

Topics covered include Layouts, Viewports, Scaling, Layer Control for Viewports, Block Libraries and Attributes, External References, Toolpalettes, CAD Standards, Dimension Styles, Text Styles, Customizing Menus and 3D.

Exercises for the workshop are drawn from a variety of disciplines, including part design, facility layout, architectural drafting and schematics. Participants for each workshop are surveyed to determine their areas of interest and when possible, exercises are tailored to match the needs of the workshop attendees.

This one-day seminar presents the significant changes and additions to the software since AutoCAD 2000-2004. Participants should be proficient using AutoCAD 2002 and be familiar with Page Setups, Layouts and External References. If you are upgrading to AutoCAD 2007 or 2008 from an earlier version or desire instruction on the topics above, you should consider our Level 1 - Fast Track to AutoCAD Workshop.
