Working with TablesA table is similar to a spreadsheet. It is an object comprised of rows and columns with data. The basic format of a table is controlled by a Table Style. The appearance of a table can be altered by applying property overrides to one or more cells. ![]() Adding Text To A TableTo add text to an existing table, double-click on the cell. The Mtext editor will be displayed. Double-click in an empty cell to add text. Cell Border PropertiesThe borders of individual cells or groups of cells can be changed. Modifying a Single Cell
Left-click inside the title row. Right-click and select Cell Borders from the menu. First, select a lineweight from the Lineweight (1) drop down. Next, apply the lineweight to the outside border by left-clicking on the second (2) border style button. Left-click on the OK button to finish. Modifying a Group of CellsTo apply a thicker border to the entire table, you must select a group of cells. Start by left-clicking in the MK. cell. Hold the shift key and left-click the last cell (right) in the bottom row. Right-click and select Cell Borders… from the menu. First, select a lineweight from the Lineweight (1) drop down. Next, apply the lineweight to the outside border by left-clicking on the second (2) border style button. Left-click on the OK button to finish. Changing Text Alignment![]() A table style defines the same alignment for all data cells. The data cells in the exercise currently use a Middle Center alignment. You will change the alignment for the data cells in the MATERIAL column to Middle Left. Changing Table/Cell Width And HeightWhen you change the height or width of the table, the rows or columns change proportionally. When you change the width of a column, the table widens or narrows to accommodate the change. To maintain the table width, press CTRL while you use a column grip. | |||||||||||
