AutoCAD 2015: The New Tab

Help with video player controls

Transcript of Video Tutorial

Welcome. I'm Cindy Dunn, President of CCAD inc. In this video I will demonstrate the one of the new features of AutoCAD 2015: The New Tab.

When you begin AutoCAD 2015, the New Tab appears. It is displayed whenever no files are open or when you create a new tab. Two sliding pages, Learn and Create, make up the New Tab.

The Create page is made up of three columns, Get Started, Recent Documents and Connect.

The Get Started column includes tools to start new drawings, open existing drawings or sheets sets, download templates or view the sample drawings.

The Start Drawing tool lets you start a new drawing from the default template or select a different template. The default template is ACAD.DWT.

A template file is a special type of drawing file. The new drawing contains all the objects and settings present in the template file.

You can change the default template on the Files tab of the Options command.

The Recent Documents column lists your recently opened drawings. You can use the icons at the bottom to preview the recent drawings as thumbnails, thumbnails and text or just text. You can also use the push pin icon to make sure a file remains on the list.

The Connect column displays notifications, offline help information and links to Autodesk 360 and feed.

The Learn Page is divided into three columns: What’s New, Getting Started Videos and Tips/Online Resources. View these videos to learn about new features or different perspectives on fundamental skills.

Thank you for watching this video on the New Tab. Please visit these links for more AutoCAD Tutorials and our schedule of in-person and virtual AutoCAD training.
