Drawing Background Colors

The drawing background color, as well as a host of other screen elements colors, is controlled using the OPTIONS command. To change the drawing background color select the OPTIONS command and then pick the Display tab. About half way down on the left side select the Colors... button.

The next window varies from version to version but the next step is to select the context to work with. If you work with Layouts you can use a different background color for 2D Model Space and Sheets/Layouts. You can also change the colors for the Block editor or Plot preview.

After you select the Context, pick the Interface Element. In this tip we are focusing on the background color so the Interface Element is Uniform Background. Choose the ▼ to the right of Color. You can choose one of the basic colors or pick Select Color from the menu and choose a color from the palette.
